Program Structure

Seminar topics include: Introduction to Management Research, Epistemology and Methodology, Management Theories, Research Practices and advanced management topics (entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, logistics, HR, business strategy, etc.).

1st Year

During the first year the Doctorate students have a series of advanced seminars focused on giving the basis for the elaboration of the foundation of their professional research. At the end of the first year, they will be able to present a robust research proposal.

Professors from Bordeaux travel abroad to teach, and students are expected at the end of the first year to spend 1-2 weeks in Bordeaux for a series of intensive seminars.

2nd Year

The second year is when the core of the research development.
A few additional seminars with specific focus (marketing, business strategy, etc) are usually taught abroad taking into consideration the research topics that are being developed.

3rd Year.

During the third year, the Doctorate students are finalising collecting and analysing the data and analysing the research results. At the end of the 3rd year, there will be a thesis defence at the University of Bordeaux.

Diplomation

After your successful presentation of your professional thesis, you will receive the University of Bordeaux Executive DBA Diploma.

Content of the Program cover four major areas:


1- Principles of research in management

The goal is to understand the quantitative and qualitative approaches initiated in the areas of marketing, accounting and control, corporate finance and market finance, human resources, strategy and organization, family business, entrepreneurship and project management

2- Epistemology and methodology

This series of seminars aims to train towards positivist, constructivist, quantitative, qualitative approaches and case studies that can constitute a research strategy in management sciences.

3- Research practices

Explore all major paradigms applied to the sciences of organizations. Address the complexity of an organization through the major transversal theories in management sciences (decision theory, systems theory, contract theory, neo-institutional theory, etc.)

4- Theoretical currents of management research

Evaluate and critically review current research projects. Explain how theory and empirical elements are embedded in the various currents in management sciences and explain the behavior of the actors of the organizations.

Investiment

The program has different fee types depending from where you live and if you follow the French program (subsided by the French State) or English International FT.

The international DBA fee is currently € 29.700 and can be paid into installments. It includes the international modules via Zoom, two weeks immersion at the University and optional meetings with selected University sites - global cities such as Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Cambridge, Jedha, or Delhi).

Cities and seminars changes from Cohor to Cohort.

If you are or intent to become French resident and wishes to follow the local program in French at the University of Bordeaux all three years long.

Only for the initial period specified in your terms of agreements. After the initial period of enrollment, there will be no refund.

This is a DBA program for professionals with a practical focus.Ph.Ds are more theorical in nature and DBA has to have a more practical focus.

It is a University Diploma from the University of Bordeaux.

There are additional year extra costs for the 4th.

No. If your citizenship requires a visa or special form entry type of validation, since this is a one-week seminar type event, you are not required to own a French visa.

Yes, it is mandatory and it has to be approved. This is a 3 year program. However, all candidates needs to be aware that a failure in a seminar of successful competion of the thesis presentation project or final presentation, will not allow the doctoral student to get the diploma.

The first year, the program is structure to guide the doctoral student to build his or her thesis dissertation project.

About the end of the first year, or at another designated date, a Dissertation Project is expected be present. and in case of failure. In order to continue the second and third year, the disseration project needs to be approved by the evaluating prohessors. If project is not approved, the program amount, if it has not been paid in full, is still due. The student can reapply in the following year, as a new candidate, but will not be able to follow the 2nd or 3rd year upon failure.

Meetings can be recorded at the discretion of each professor. The presence at the meetings are mandatory and such resource can be used only as a secondary option and also subject to technical availability.

Yes. Since the DBA program focuses on practical management topics of executive decision making, relevant work experience of 5 to 10 years is required.
